Our Methodology

How we research, and present assisted living facility data in Southwest Florida and why we built this directory in the first place.

01

Why We Built This

When a family member can no longer live safely on their own, the search for an assisted living facility is overwhelming. Families are often making this decision during a crisis after a fall, a diagnosis, or a sudden decline with little time and no roadmap.

The State of Florida inspects every licensed assisted living facility and publishes the results publicly through the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). That data exists but it's buried in government databases that are difficult to navigate and nearly impossible to compare across facilities.

SWFLSeniorCare.com was built to solve that problem. We take public government data and present it in a clear, honest format so families can make informed decisions during one of the hardest moments of their lives. No facility pays for placement or ranking on this site.

02

Where the Data Comes From

All underlying facility data on this site is sourced exclusively from the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), available publicly at quality.healthfinder.fl.gov.

This includes:

  • Facility name, address, phone, and license information
  • Owner and administrator names
  • Licensed bed count and facility type
  • Deficiency classifications (Class 1 through Class 4)
  • Substantiated complaints
  • Sanctions and final orders
  • Fine amounts
  • Legal action history
  • Services, activities, and emergency power plans

We do not alter, fabricate, or editorialize any of the underlying AHCA data. Every data point on a facility profile links directly back to the original government source.

Data currency
This directory was last updated in May 2026. AHCA data changes as inspections occur and violations are resolved. We recommend verifying current status directly at quality.healthfinder.fl.gov before making any decision.

03

What our Site Does Not Measure

It does not measure:

  • Staff warmth and culture — the human element that often matters most
  • Food quality — menus, dining experience, nutrition
  • Activities and programming — quality of daily life for residents
  • Physical environment — cleanliness, maintenance, aesthetics
  • Resident and family satisfaction — subjective experience of those living there
  • Current staffing levels — ratios may have changed since inspection
  • Price and value — monthly costs, what is included, financial assistance options

We strongly encourage every family to visit facilities in person, speak with residents and their families, and ask direct questions before making a decision.

04

Our Independence

SWFLSeniorCare.com is an independent consumer resource. We have no financial relationship with any assisted living facility, placement agency, or referral service.
